How We Will Expand Our Impact

The Shoe Bank Model

What Is a Shoe Bank?

Shoe Banks are physical installations at our community partners’ facilities, where we support through an ongoing stock of varied sizes of shoes. This way, our partners are able to meet the needs of an individual in the moment—ensuring anyone who walks in their doors has access to a new pair of shoes.

Through the Shoe Bank model, New Shoe Day has been able to scale impact across the state and serve even more youth.

We will work together to understand the scale of your need, funding, and frequency with which your organization may need ongoing stock provided.

Shoe Bank FAQs

  • If you believe your organization may benefit from a Shoe Bank, you can reach out to our team. We will work with you to understand the need from your local community, how to fund the shoe bank, and any other details to help solve shoe insecurity for those you serve. For organizations where a Shoe Bank is not the right fit, we still partner for one-off needs and events.

  • We work with community partners individually to understand the scale and frequency of shoe restocks. For some partners, restocks are on a recurring basis—quarterly or otherwise. For other partners, we restock their Shoe Banks on an as-needed basis.

  • Shoe Banks can be funded in a number of ways. In our disucssions together, we will narrow in on what funding process makes the most sense for your organization. In some instances, community partners will dedicate funds themselves, apply for grants, or co-fund with New Shoe Day. We also bring on partner organizations that sponsor Shoe Banks at our partners’ facilities.

  • Yes! While we serve many community partners through the Shoe Bank model, we also help dozens of local organizations with individual or infrequent “shoe drops.” Some of our partners have a specific set of kids who need shoes, and we work with them to create dedicated events or drop-ship a single run of shoes directly to their facility.
